Can we all take a second to appreciate the incredible, deep sea vampire squid? Here are some quick facts:

1. Its scientific name is Vampyroteuthis infernalis, which literally means "vampire squid from hell".

2. It shares similarities with both squids and octopuses, which puts it in its own order: Vampyromorphida.

3. It is bioluminescent! When threatened, the vampire squid flails its arms around and flashes light via photophores, which disorients predators.

it's so glittery and cute!!!

it's so glittery and cute!!! love. also i love vampire squids. looks as pictured, came quickly. this pin has two pin holds in back so i hopefully i won't lose it - feel solid. (i put pins on different hoodies and usually after a year or two a pin goes missing). (via Etsy)

I purchased it for a gift which went over very well. It was delivered promptly, packaged well, and looked to be high-quality. I fell in love with the vampire squid

I fell in love with the vampire squid when I was watching a video and it went upside down. The squid looks like a real life kipper upside down so when I saw this pin I had to have it. I love it so much and I just about die laughing every time because they captured the look of the squid perfectly. Now my fear is will I ever be able to do anything at my desk with this pin so close.
